Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! This was our first Thanksgiving at our own house. Only my second away from home! Luckily Kayce is in town with her family so it didn't seem so lonely. Here is the table which was set for only 4 what a small crowd in comparison to what we are used to at mom's house. Well we thought 4 was not enough so Vidal invited our neighbor over who was alone for Thanksgiving..... what a riot, we ate way too much and laughed even more. It was great fun!

The Kids table, Kelanie, Shawyna, Oscar and Magaley were so happy to be independent at their own table! Though at the end of the night they had played more than ate..... thats ok it left more food for the adults hee hee

The turkey fresh out of the oven, and the starts of the gravy YUM!

What a spread, I am so thankful that we could have all the fixin's for a great Thanksgiving dinner.

Getting ready to stuff our faces......

A little pie.... I don't know how anyone had room for pie but we managed to eat 3 of the 7 pies.... whew....

Then it was time to dance some of that food off!! Kelanie was learning some new Salsa moves with daddy!

She thoroughly enjoyed dancing ... and so did Daddy!

It had been quite the night for the girls... here they are at about 7pm the turkey had kicked in and they were ready to hit the sack.... they got their pj's on all by themselves and settled into a movie with Oscar

Then it was time for the boys to play some pool.... They were rocking out too. It was a fun time for sure. We even convinced more neighbors to come join in the fun. We danced the night away. Reminds me to be thankful for my marvelous family and wonderful friends. We are truly blessed!

Time to get the Turkey in and Cookin'

The starts of the stuffing. All you need is well a lot of bread. I used mom's recipe because it is the all around favorite.

The Turkey is a cookin'.... I stuffed the turkey to the brim with stuffing... YUM! Vidal is so sweet he came home last night with a roasting bag, he heard at work that it cuts down on the cooking time. I told him I would have to get up at 7am at the very latest to start cooking the turkey and he knew I Had been cooking all day Wednesday and wanted me to be able to sleep in on Thanksgiving .... what a sweetheart! Another thing I am thankful for my wonderful husband.

Prepping for the big T day!

The day before Thanksgiving I decided to get a head start on some of the cooking to enjoy the day a little more. So here are a few of the masterpieces hahaha Lemon Meringue My Favorite.

3 Lovely Cherry pies for my dearest sister Kayce, they are her favorite.....

And of course thanksgiving is not complete without a pumpkin pie. It is a skill to put it into the oven without spilling the filling.... but somehow I did it :) And think I only set the smoke alarm off once the whole day hahahaha. I also made a pecan pie my other favorite.... :) It was a full day of cooking. I made 2 kinds of rolls, readied the candied yams, made moms pink Jello salad, and Orange rolls. Whew now a good nights rest to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to put the turkey on. I am so Thankful to be able to cook such a feast!!

Defrosting in the frost......

So here we are a few days before Thanksgiving and I have volunteered to roast the Turkey for the big dinner. I must Admit that a 17.7 lb bird is a little ominous taking up a whole shelf in the refrigerator.... But I am going to smile at the thing and hope it is nice to me. :)

I am excited to see how it turns out. I hope it has enough time to defrost in this coooollld weather.

Stay tuned for the finished product :)

On a Cold Frosty Morn

A frosty look at the truck parked in the back yard halting its work due to cold Jack Frost.

I thought the frost looked beautiful... Vidal went back to bed, this pic shows the two attitudes, beautiful frost blending in with the corroding rust.

A frosty foggy day, the birds didn't come for breakfast this morning. The feeder looks oh so cold!! Brrrrrrr

Free Fabric and New Dresses!

So I was lucky enough to get a large amount of Free Misc fabric from a lady who was cleaning out the closets. I decided I better put it to good use. So I pulled out some old patterns my grandma gave me and got to work. Kelanie and Shawnya picked what dress they wanted and here we go....
Cutting out pattern pieces..... this is the first time I have made a dress by my self..... so I hope it turns out! :)
Sewing the Hem on dress one. This is a great feeling, that means I am almost done.... but wait I have to do it all over again. Dress one time 5 hours to complete. .......
Dress two went a lot faster it only took 2 1/2 hours to complete YAY. I admire old times when all clothes were hand made WOW!
Here they are the finished products, I even put a patch in Kelanie's pants to match the dress :) so she could go outside and not be too cold.
I was happy that Shawnya's dress turned out because I had to size the pattern down and wasn't sure quite how to do it. But it worked YAY! Thank goodness for free stuff and my mom for teaching me to sew... Thanks mom!!!

Getting Ready for Turkey Day!

Getting the house decorated for Turkey day. The girls cut out their handprints to make turkeys for the front window!
Can't wait to have a turkey in my tummy! HAPPY TURKEY DAY!

A Windy Day at the Park

Lets go fly a Kite...... We decided to get out of the house on this cloudy day and get some exercise! We played Futbol (soccer) and played tag, and had races, played on the jungle gym, and ended the day with a little kite flying.
They let all the string out, my eyes watered when I tried to look at it so high in the sky.
Daddy helping them to figure the whole thing out. They did a great job and took turns letting it flyyyyyyyyy.
Daddy and Sha Sha Taking a little break.
Soccer brat :) Playing around during half time :)

Our Little Athlete!

We found Cleats for Kelanie at Good Will and we finally had a no rain day to go try them out. She is quite the Athlete and we found out she has some good Futbol (soccer) skills. Woo Hoo
She also has some great Boxing skills, as we see here, she sure takes after Daddy!
Practice Makes Perfect.
Thats the way Kelanie, Keep working on that jab. :)

Puppy Love!

Sha Sha is coming very attached to Dozer. With the cold fall evenings, she has been cuddling up with him to stay warm. Last night she even fell asleep with him. Aaaahhhh
What the pair! Nothing like a little puppy love.

That Little Devil

So he did it, He won first place at the Winco Costume Contest, a nice $100 addition to his paycheck is quite worth spending 30 minutes painting his face :) He also won 1st place in a costume contest at the dance we went to Halloween Night. Nothin better than a little latin dancing on Halloween and an extra $50!

Happy Halloween!

Ok so we were trick or treating around the neighborhood and there was this really fat creepy cat following us, It was the fattest cat I have ever seen! Of course the girls thought it was the cutest thing they ever saw and ran after it to try and pet it :) The picture just does not do the cat its fat justice.
Dozer's first Halloween costume.... He didn't like big pimpin so we gave him a costume a little more suitable...... a devil :)
Snow White, Her apple tree, and the Devil getting ready to trick or treat.
By this point the girls were hyped up and ready to get out the door and say Trick or Treat, they practiced all day!
Little miss snow white....
Going green for Halloween

Sweet little Snow White. She had a great time trick or treating, she would go up to a house ring the doorbell, and when they opened the door she would say trick or treat I am Snow White. It was great fun!
